Insurance for Orthotics & Prosthetics in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan Aids to Independent Living (SAIL): Sask Residents Qualify

If you’re a Saskatchewan resident, you qualify for coverage under the SAIL program. SAIL partially funds select orthotic devices when provided by a private clinic.

What About Prosthetics?

Prosthetics are not funded through SAIL in private practice. Coverage is available only at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre or Sask Abilities.

Other Funding Options:

Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) – For work-related injuries

Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) – For First Nations & Inuit (pre-authorization required)

Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) – For accidents and rehab

Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) & Medavie Blue Cross – For eligible veterans

Private Insurance – Coverage varies; we’ll help submit any additional fees
